WHY THIS PROGRAM?

Created to safeguard the national architectural heritage, these schools train young people who are breaking away.
The states finance infrastructure and teaching staff,
but not the necessary machines/tools. GANYDAR is working on it.

Description

Initiated by Weitnauer in 1995, the financing of machinery and tools essential to the teaching of masons, carpenters, locksmiths and other trades, has enabled the development of workshop schools in several cities of Cuba.

GANYDAR continues this program, extending it to other Latin American countries. Daniel Rincon is in charge of this programme from Switzerland.

Objectives

This program aims to train approx. 300 renovation professionals per year in all supported countries.

Activities

Following the continuation of Weitnauer's activities in Cuba in 2015, GANYDAR began to develop its machinery and tool financing also in other countries, currently Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico.

Each year, foundation officials visit schools to ensure the proper use of the funded tools. In addition, the future needs of the workshop-school are validated.

Budget

The budget is linked to the needs of the schools. In 2019, we are planning CHF 30,000 to finance 50% of the machinery and tools for one of the new schools to be opened in Cuba, as well as CHF 10,000 for an essential dump truck for renovation projects in Old Havana where apprentices are being trained.

Location

                Cuba, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico.

Duration of the program

Permanent program.
