TRINILOS project

Due to the lack of up-to-date training, sewing machines and some textile supplies, vulnerable women struggle to build their financial independence through sewing.
GANYDAR will provide these essential elements.

TRINILOS

WHY THIS PROJECT?

Lacking equipment, up-to-date training, sewing machines and basic supplies, vulnerable women struggle to develop a viable economic activity around sewing and textile arts. GANYDAR is responding to this need by supporting a local workshop-school in Trinidad (Cuba), in partnership with committed local players.

Description

The project aims to integrate training in sewing and pattern-making into an existing workshop-school, which has been supported by GANYDAR for several years. The courses aim to achieve a standard of quality and repeatability close to European norms, opening up concrete professional prospects for motivated young women. Teaching also extends to embroidery, frivolity, crochet, and now to drawing and painting applied to fashion.

The creations are sent to Switzerland, where they are put to professional use (jewelry, accessories) to the direct benefit of the school.

Objectives

  • Training young women in art and sewing professions
  • Supply the school with materials (generator, supplies, sewing machines)
  • Create an economic value chain for the products produced
  • Consolidating a sustainable, reproducible pilot project
Personalized teaching
The joy of learning!

Activities

  • Regular delivery of hard-to-find materials (thread, cord, paper, paint, etc.).
  • Shipment and resale of creations in Switzerland via a partner network
  • Sewing, embroidery, drawing and painting classes run by a local team
  • Consideration of sending a generator to compensate for frequent power cuts
  • Gradual integration of specialist teachers (model-making, visual arts)
There's still so much to do
