EDIFICATORS
WHY THIS PROGRAM?
This program hosts projects to train disadvantaged young people in craft trades. The foundation mainly finances the machines and tools required for these training courses, leaving all the tasks associated with these projects to the local people.
Description
Initiated by a philanthropic initiative of the Swiss company Weitnauer in 1995, the financing of machines and tools essential to the teaching of masons, carpenters, locksmiths and other trades has contributed to the development of the 'workshop school' in several Cuban towns. It is now open to the whole of Latin America.
Objectives
Enable the training of craftsmen and women in all the countries we support, by contributing to the financing of the machines and tools they need.

Activities
Following the resumption of Weitnauer's activities in Cuba in 2015, several projects have been carried out in Cuba, notably in Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Havana. Currently, a marble-makers' school project is underway, and a project to support a large training center in Cuzco, Peru is being studied. Every year, Foundation managers visit the schools to ensure that the tools financed are being put to good use. They also analyze needs for future funding.
Budget
For the year 2025, CHF 10k are available for the marble-mason school project in La Habana, Cuba.
