Due to the lack of up-to-date training, sewing machines and some textile supplies, vulnerable women struggle to build their financial independence through sewing.

Description
In Trinidad (Cuba), there is a project to turn the city into a 'creative city', focusing on the creative and artistic aspects of handicrafts.
In conjunction with the local authorities, Ganydar is organizing a 2-year 'Confection, Couture' training course.
Ganydar provides a number of specialized courses, sewing machines and certain fabrics and accessories that are impossible to find locally. The city of Trinidad provides the premises and the organization, supported by a team of three enthusiastic professionals (2 women and 1 man).
Objectives
This pilot program will enable 40 Cuban women to train and improve their standard of living each year through the work of their hands.


Activities
A start-up was carried out in 2019. Project suspended, then restarted in 2022, with delivery of sewing machines and equipment in 2022. First courses given in 2023 - 2024. Continuation of regular courses for next year 2025.

Budget
Training in 2025 is financed (CHF 25k). Any additional donations will be used to increase course and learner materials.
