TRINILOS

WHY THIS PROJECT?

Due to the lack of up-to-date training, sewing machines and some textile supplies, vulnerable women struggle to build their financial independence through sewing.
GANYDAR will provide these essential elements.

Description

There is a project in Trinidad (Cuba) to make the city a 'creative city', in relation to the creative and artistic aspects of craftsmanship. In connection with this project, authorized local authorities will organize, in collaboration with GANYDAR, a training 'Confection, Couture' dispensed over 2 years.

The foundation will provide several specialized courses, provide sewing machines as well as some fabrics and accessories impossible to find on site. The city of Trinidad will provide the premises and the organization, supported by a team of three enthusiastic professionals (2 women and 1 man).

Objectives

This pilot program will enable 40 Cuban women to train and improve their standard of living each year through the work of their hands.

Activities

The training program is in development. Registration for the first course is expected to begin in September 2019, with an official opening either for the second half of 2019 or the first half of 2020. The first donations of sewing machines have already begun. 4 to 6 annual stays of Abigail Vouillamoz and Evelyn Nantermod will structure this new program.

Budget

The budget is linked to the needs of the schools. For 2019, emphasis has been placed on donations in kind (sewing machines, fabric, thread, accessories). For 2020, we foresee CHF 3'000 for the transport costs of the sewing machines and various materials to Trinidad (Cuba), various administrative costs, and the remuneration of the trainers - only remote this year, Covid obliges). Special partnership with Venga Project.

Cabildo

Due to lack of up-to-date training, sewing machines and textile supplies, vulnerable women are struggling to build their financial independence through sewing. GANYDAR will provide these indispensable elements.

Urdimbre Project

Urdimbre

The Project (15 craftswomen) was created to revive the art of lace and embroidery in Trinidad.
These handmade wonders are sold at low prices because they are made with poor quality threads.
Ensuring a sustainable supply of beautiful raw materials is the challenge that the Ganydar Foundation wishes to take up.

Pin7 Project

Pins7

Pins7 is a sewing and garment making workshop located in the middle of Neuchâtel's greenery, in the village of Montmollin, run by Abigail Vouillamoz.
An enchanting site, a warm atmosphere, beautiful materials, creativity, encounters, sharing, friendships.
The Pins7 workshop works in collaboration with the Ganydar foundation, in particular by welcoming for training courses, some trainers of the Cabildo project, in Havana, Cuba. It is also the logistic centre for sending machines, yarn and fabrics to Latin America.

Evelyne Nantermod: "There comes a time in everyone's life when the evidence of supporting those less fortunate than oneself becomes apparent."

Evelyne Nantermod lives in Switzerland where she is a gynaecologist. A strong advocate for women's causes, their health, well-being and autonomy, Evelyne is impressed by the elegance and courage of the women she meets in 2015, when she is at her best...
